I would like to introduce The institute of intelligent infrastructure technologies i³t (Triple IT)
The institute has been set up to:
- Establish the structured cabling industry as an independent, recognised, trade (by the government and other trade bodies)
- Formulate a full apprenticeship (one apprenticeship throughout the UK, there is currently at least two totally different apprenticeships). We had established one national UK apprenticeship until 2020 when SQA and the English Skills funding agency decided that cabling engineers would do separate and different telecoms apprenticeships. We want to re-introduce the original structured cabling apprenticeship.
- Develop a CS card / trade card Phone App for structured cabling engineers, and have it accepted by all contractors as the national standard
Both the ESFA England, and SQA Scotland are currently re writing the networking qualifications, there has been no consultation with any networking company we are in contact
with, on what should or shouldn’t be included in apprenticeship qualifications, which means your particular sector could be cut out of apprenticeships in future.
I would urge you to support i3t by joining as a member by going to www.i3t.co and follow the membership link.
We will also have lots of other benefits for the future.
Note:
The institute is a not-for-profit organisation.
Is brought to you by the team who introduced the apprenticeship in structured cabling (Electrotechnical L3) which many thousands of Apprentices and adult Apprentices have since completed.
